It has been a thousand years since we were seen outside of our forest. I would doubt that we were more than a legend to most. Besides which. We are not so different in appearances at a glance.

I continue leading them onwards, the light pierces through the darkness like a knife through a veil. The plants themselves almost seem to shy away from it. I raise my hand and bring a small gust, just enough to blow the fire in the lantern out.

I turn again and keep walking. The darkness is enjoyable and light here and should not bother us too much if we keep to the path. I pull my neckerchief down and take a deep breath in, savouring the smell of the wood and wet earth.
