"Doesn't sound like you had a decent childhood."

Night Young rarely do.

Night young... perhaps I heard of them?
"The night young?"

=i nod=
You know what they are?

"No. Maybe once before but I must have forgotten."

Night Young are the street urchins, the orphans. We would barely survive through days, having to steal food or get it from generous passerbys. If we were lucky, we would be adopted, but more often than not we ran away as those who adopted us used us as nothing more than slave labor. No one ever hired us in store, unless they just needed an extra pair of hands. I was lucky and got into the military.

"Ooooh. The orphans... I caught one before trying to steal my coins."

[ He was a Night Young. ]
And..?
[ Aren't you worried he might steal your stuff? ]
Nah.

Mhmm, they were probably trying to get some money to buy some food. Despite what people think, we weren't thieving for greed, just for survival. But so we learned quickly how to climb, where to go, signals. We would tell each other about where we found a nice person, someone who would give us food. We would remember everything that we could, because each of us had a story, and if one of us died, and someone always did, then there would be others to tell that story.

"Sounds brutal. But I'd imagine living through it is a whole other story."
[ That's just plain sad. ]

It was. And when I got into the military, I thought I was on top of the world. I was the first Night Young in who know's how long to escape that fate. I thought I was the best, like no one could beat me. That's also when I made Meris, hence it's attitude.

=i flashed a grin=
It's also when I first started to learn magic. Hence my lack of real skill in it.

"Hey. You aren't alone at least. I have only recently started learning any real fighting capabilities. Although I can't compare childhoods."
I noticed the sky had changing. From what I can tell its nearing late afternoon.

Yeah. What was your childhood like? I mean, I've shared mine, you gotta share yours now.

"Aw man. Do I have to?"
I smirked.
"A fluster of servants, training for everyday life such as eating and talking. Which was ridiculous. It was a fight for breathing space.
Its why when I finished school I went to the army, to escape all of that. Well. It contributed to me joining the army.
Really the political life isn't for me. But if it was I wouldn't have met cha. And not have had these adventures."
I take a drink from my water. My throat kinda went dry.

=i chuckle=
Yeah, and look at how that turned out. I took a hammer to the chest, you got a few arrows stuck in ya.

And we got blood on Meris.

"Its bound to happen in war. What's least likely to happen in war is surviving. So cheers the that!"

I took a long swing of water. Wasn't exactly celebrating liquid but it'll do. Its cold and refreshing.
I looked to the skies and found that the sun was setting.
"Looks like we'll be camping here tonight."

It's as good a place as any. Clear water, nice sand. Why not?

"Exactly. We'll staying here tonight. Want me to make the fire this time?"

Now, while you do that, I'm going to practice some more.

I take the flint from him and stood up to gather firewood.
Wait... We didn't see a single tree around here.
"Uhm we might have a slight problem. We don't have any firewood nor any trees."

You are a Virden user, no? Grow a tree from a seed.

=i get up and start walking back into the water, Meris re-wrapped around my arm=

"Well yeah but I don't have a seed. Even if I did I wouldn't be able to make it grow."

Check the grounds! Seeds can be carried anywhere! Birds! Insects! Small animals! You can find seeds in the smallest of places!

=i was back where I was in the water=

Without a word I climbed back up the slope.
Seed in a grass heap. And make it grow. This is gonna be tricky.
[ Just move the grass out of the way. ]
You're right! I should. But growing the tree is different.

I bent the grass in front of me down and started looking for a seed of some type.
