Chapter 1: Name TBA

"Alright. Let's do this then."
I destrapped Malice and charged. It what he said he was doing.
Successfully dodging a couple arrows as I entered.

=i ran forward as well, behind Jisr. I broke off to the left and engaged a soldier coming out of a tent, alerted from the various shouting from the sentries. I swung Meris and hooked it around his sword, a quick pull and he was disarmed. I spun and planted Meris into his chest, digging in deep before yanking it out with a savage grunt. I turned and blocked an axe, barely=

I shot forward a small amount of dark energy into a soldier then turned to my left to block a sword swing
Within a second I was blown backwards by wind magic. I staggered but barely managed the time to block my attacker a second time.
Another came from the tent behind me so I let Malice down and step away. The swordsman nearly cut through his friend but caught himself.
I use this time to cut his back in a angle and stepped back.

=i called up my water magic and threw the water into the soldier's face, staggering him and distracting him long enough for me to move to the side and let his axe fall harmlessly next to me. Before he can react, I swing Meris and slit his throat. I move into the tent, looking for supplies=

Now in a better position for fighting melee I go in defense mode. Anything within my range was going to be injured.
Of course that couldn't be allowed. One used a wind spell, knocking me back again. One pulled out his bow and fired a shot while the other two charge.
The arrow hits me in my leg and I yelp in pain."Again with the arrows!"
I'm losing badly but I still kept fighting. I used more dark magic and sent it towards one of the soldiers then cut a angle into the other one.
Another arrow flew forward.

=i didn't find anything in the tent, but there were plenty to check. I step out and see an archer taking aim at Jisr. I call up my water magic and throw the water into his face, distracting him as he let the arrow fly=

The arrow zooms past my head only by inches but I didn't notice and finished a soldier off with a chest stab.
I pulled Malice back and cut into the other soldier horizontally then back it back to cut across his face. Thus killing him.

My leg only had a small cut, the arrow just touched the skin. Luck had been with me.
The archer turned towards the attack and shot a arrow.

=the shot hits my armor and bounces off. It still made me stumble, but it didn't do any real damage. I regained my balance and ran forward, swinging Meris. I did a low swing, aiming for his legs, which connected. The blade and chain wrapped around his leg in a tight loop, and a strong quick pull knocked him onto the ground. I walked forward while dragging him towards me in spurts so he couldn't notch and arrow, and then stomped on his face. Knocking him out and killing him after a few more quick smashes=

I searched the rest of the camp for any more. Its size is small and...
"Its clear, Nerim. No one left."
I sat down to tend my leg, bandaging it with cloth from my shirt.

=i swung Meris over my head again to wipe off some of the blood=
Good. Maybe now I can find something to clean Meris with.

I finished tying the knot and stood up.
"They're bound to have something for cleaning. Should be in the tents."
While moving to a tent I strap Malice to my back. There was water and food in this one, along with cleaning rags.
I ran over to Nerim and give him one.

=i nod and take the rag, beginning to wipe off the blood form Meris' blade=

--Ah, much better. Now I actually shine--

=i toss the rag into one of the tents and look around some more for some water or other liquid, and maybe some books or something=

After unstrapping Malice (Its a very useful system.) I also wiped the blade, cleaning it somewhat.
You've been quiet.
[You nearly died three times today. I don't want to be another discarded weapon.]
I wouldn't worry about it. I have good reflexes.

I sorta limped over to the archer. He's got a decent bow... but I have no skill with bows so I leave it be.
After strapping Malice I head over to a tent, looking for anything rare.

=i found a pack and some books, some on magic usage and some entertainment. I put them in the pack along with a cleaning rag, a different one than the one I used before. I picked up a few glass containers of water as well, I put those in the pack as well. I searched the rest of the tent, but didn't find anything. I walked out and looked around=

I wasn't expecting much at all, maybe some essentials they'd life on. And seeing only water, food and a roll up bed here made me think they were ready to pack up in a moment's notice.
I took water, a medium sized container of pork, bread and several fruits.
Looks like we'll be set for awhile. Need to travel lightly anyway.
Moving from this tent to another and only find food and water. It was the same for the next tent also.

But this next tent was bigger and held a small chest within. Nothing much inside other then the chest.
I tried to open it to be stopped by a lock.

=i walked up behind Jisr=
Having trouble there?

"Its locked so I'm gonna break it. Except I can't get to break it with a spear, that's where I'd like you to help."

--You want me to break a Romanii lock? You had me had Romanii--

No. I have a better idea.

=i get one of the water vials and pour some of it into the lock, then use my ice magic to freeze the water, causing the lock to crack and expand. I poured some more water into it and repeated until the lock was no longer fully attached to the chest=
There you go.

"That gets it done either way. Shall we?"
I open the smallish chest without further disruptions and inside was a couple things.
One of the items was a scroll. Just a piece of parchment.
Another was a compass and the last was a sketch of the surrounding area.

I grab the scroll and skimmed it.
"Their orders."

What's it say?

After I finished reading it and handed it to him.
"Just something about scouting the area and laying low. Not signed or anything. "

Well, they did some of it. But they failed the implied third part of the orders.

"That they did. Hmmm. How long will it be until they realize they're missing a scouting party?"
The question was more to myself and Malice. I thought for a moment.

Depends on when they were supposed to return, and how far away the main camp was. Maybe a day, maybe more.

"Hm. I guess we should get going, mainly because we can't hold this camp when they come."
I turned my head side to side to pop it and yawned. What's up ahead for us could be bad. Or good.
Funny. I'm not bothered with the thought of being hunted down. Maybe this fighting stuff isn't as horrifying as I originally thought.
"Get a head start with their stuff. Sounds good? "
